Dishonored rune planner: power costs and when you can afford them

The journal's Powers page prices one upgrade at a time. A second level always needs the first, so the real price of a power is the sum of both. The rune planner adds every prerequisite, totals the build and lines it up against the runes each mission holds.

How many runes does a full build cost?

Take Bend Time II, Windblast II and Dark Vision II for Corvo. Each second level brings its first level with it:

Windblast I
3 runes
Windblast II
4 runes
Dark Vision I
1 rune
Dark Vision II
2 runes
Bend Time I
2 runes
Bend Time II
8 runes
Build total
20 runes

Open this build in the planner to see the same selection.

After which mission can you afford it?

Every mission's end screen lists the runes found in it. Added up in mission order, they reach the build's 20 runes after Lady Boyle's Last Party:

High Overseer Campbell
7 found, 7 in all
House of Pleasure
5 found, 12 in all
The Royal Physician
5 found, 17 in all
Lady Boyle's Last Party
3 found, 20 in all

That count assumes you pick up every rune those end screens list and spend none on anything else. The rune the Outsider grants in the dream and the rune handed over at the Hound Pits after Lady Boyle's party come on top of it, and Piero's Shop sells one more for coins. Use the mission pages to find where each rune lies.

Why do Corvo and Daud pay different prices?

The same power is priced per campaign. Blink II costs 3 runes for Corvo in Dishonored and 4 for Daud. Bend Time runs the other way: Corvo pays 10 runes for both levels, Daud 8 in The Knife of Dunwall. Open Daud's Bend Time to compare.

Daud starts The Knife of Dunwall with Blink, Void Gaze and Arcane Bond at level I, so the planner never charges for them. Pull appears only in The Brigmore Witches: 2 runes for the first level and 4 for the second. A compatible save from The Knife of Dunwall can carry Daud's upgrades into The Brigmore Witches; the planner keeps a separate plan for each campaign and does not read that save, so add the upgrades you carried over yourself.
