The Stolen Archive

Eleuterio Cienfuegos, an ex-member of the Eyeless, stole important documents about how to enter the Void and sent them to the Royal Conservatory. Make your way inside and look for the stolen archive.

Primary tasks

Find the Stolen Archive

Cienfuegos, an ex-member of the Eyeless, stole important documents regarding an entrance to the Void. They are somewhere inside the Royal Conservatory.

  • Enter the Royal Conservatory

The Abbey of the Everyman has seized the Royal Conservatory. Infiltrate the premises.

  • Inspect the Ledger

The Overseers are burning heretical items from the Royal Conservatory. Their ledger may contain valuable information.

  • Reach Sister Rosewyn

Sister Lena Rosewyn found a valuable artifact in the Curator's Office. Find her and steal it.

  • Acquire the archive from Sister Rosewyn

Find a way to obtain the document that Sister Lena Rosewyn is carrying.

  • Acquire the archive from Brother Cardoza

Find a way to obtain the document that Vice Overseer Álvaro Cardoza is carrying.

  • Examine the Archive using a Projector

The stolen archive appears to be a silvergraph plate. Find a projector nearby to view it.

  • Keep the Silvergraph

Retrieve the silvergraph plate from the projector and keep it.

  • Flee to the Mountains

Leave the Royal Conservatory district and set off for Shindaerey North Quarry.

Review the Contracts

Read the contracts on display at the Black Market to find out about available mercenary work in the Royal Conservatory district.

  • Find the Black Market

The contracts are on display at the Black Market nearby.

  • Álvaro and the Abbey

I have good reason to believe that the Abbey of the Everyman is committing unspeakable crimes within the Royal Conservatory. If you're as fond of them as I am, kill every last Blind Sister and Overseer except for Brother Cardoza. Leave him in one of his “musical chairs” and I'll deal with him myself.

  • Pilfer the Prophecies

Sister Rosewyn keeps a detailed record of her prophetic visions. Rumor has it she knows every secret in the Isles: murder, treason, love affairs… That kind of information could turn me into a very powerful lady. I'll give all my bonecharms to whoever manages to infiltrate the Royal Conservatory and steal that book.

  • A Risky Wager

I abandoned my apartment last night because of the Abbey's wretched quarantine. In my haste I left a precious relic behind, but I doubt anyone has seized it, considering how well-protected it is. In fact, I'm offering good coin to anyone who is clever enough to bypass the defenses and live to tell the tale!

Optional Tasks

Free the Witch

Help the witch escape the Royal Conservatory without being caught by the Abbey of the Everyman.

  • Open the Cage

The witch refuses to talk as long as she's locked in this cage.

  • Clear the Way

The witch is willing to share precious information about the Royal Conservatory if you make sure the path to the sewers is safe.

Rescue the Burglar

Cortney hasn't heard from her partner Lonnie since he left to burgle a nearby apartment. Help her find him.

  • Look for Lonnie

Cortney's partner Lonnie hasn't returned from the apartment he was stealing from. Find him for her.

  • Inspect Lonnie's Body

Lonnie met a tragic fate. Examine his body to find out what happened.

  • Return to Cortney

Go back to Cortney and tell her about her partner Lonnie's fate.

Mission clues

Several witches are being held prisoner in the Royal Conservatory basement. One of them was killed in the courtyard after trying to escape through a vent.

Sister Lena Rosewyn is currently on the top floor of the Royal Conservatory, meditating with her fellow Sisters of the Oracular Order.

The chairs in the basement of the Royal Conservatory are currently being used by the Overseers to “cure” the witches of heresy, causing them unbearable pain.

The Abbey of the Everyman is burning all the heretical items it can find in the Royal Conservatory. Certain documents were recently discovered in the old curator's office, which is still under investigation.

A party of Sisters has gone to investigate the Oraculum at the Royal Conservatory. It is rumored that mutterings and echoes of divinatory thoughts can still be heard coming from it.

There is a restricted area within the Royal Conservatory that may be of interest to you. The key is hidden “on top of a painting, on the left” according to the witch.

The rat whispers taught you that a Black Market was recently opened in an abandoned apartment nearby.

According to a swarm of rats, there are witches being tortured with agonizing music at the Royal Conservatory. One of them died while trying to escape.

Smugglers have previously been able to infiltrate the Royal Conservatory without being noticed. Their secret passageway is through the sewers, to the right of the main entrance.

  • A Ring for Cortney

    Dear Lonnie,

I’ve been thinking about the last time we talked. You said you’re torn up inside that you can’t offer Cortney a decent proposal with no ring. Well, my boss had to leave a stash of jewelry behind in her apartment when they put Cyria Gardens under quarantine. If I recall right, there’s a ring in there you might use for a proposal. It’ll do until you find a nicer one, anyway. Consider it my wedding gift to you two.

    Fondly,
    -Ma Rocia

  • Stolen Silvergraph

The last piece of the stolen archive: a silvergraph, revealing the exact location of the entrance to the Void.

  • Strange Relic

A strange and valuable relic from a distant Isle.

  • Wedding Ring

A wedding ring left here by the former owners of the establishment.

Narration

I watched the fires burn all night, smoke blocking out the stars, water hissing as the hull of my old ship blackened around his body. Daud, gone at last. How many tried to kill you, and came no closer than I did all those years ago? How much coin was on your head, old man? Now no one but the Void can collect. For years, I imagined the Outsider offering me his Mark. Instead, he's given me the knife that made him; a weapon that can surely unmake him as well. I can't begin to understand his motives, but I know what Daud wanted. And if he's got to wander the Void forever, maybe I can give him some measure of peace by ending this. As the Dreadful Wale burned to cinders, did the Outsider laugh or just watch, same as me. It's as fine a pyre as I could make. Farewell, Daud. I'll finish what you started.

Diary

The Twin-bladed Knife

Daud is dead. I’m all that’s left of him. Me, and this knife I can’t let go.

Dolores Michaels’ bank was a puzzle box of miserable secrets, and right at the center was the reason for it all. A woman taut to breaking and the knife she’d tried to hide.

The Outsider handed the knife to me himself. He wants to know what I’m going to do with it. He’ll find out soon enough.

(Why does this thing have two blades? Nothing ever gets stuck between them. None of this Void shit ever makes any sense.)

Alone again

I burned Daud’s body today.

When I left the Whalers, the rat plague was still piling corpses in the street. There wasn’t anyone alive in those months who didn’t learn grief. Even Daud nearly lost himself to it then. But I can’t lose myself. Not now. Not again.

When Deirdre died, who I was or what I’d done died too. No one else saw me like she did, no one until I met Daud and he gave me purpose again. When I left Dunwall, I let it heal over with lies. But my time back with Daud reopened that wound. All I can hope now is that I helped him in his final days, just like he helped me.

Stolen secrets

At the bank, I learned more about the pharmacist Cienfuegos. He was an Eyeless, and an artist too. He painted the Void, and was close to finding out how the cult leaders reach that place. He stole documents from Dolores Michaels and sent them to the Royal Conservatory. I need to find them, so I can see what he saw.

His paintings are quiet, if a painting can be quiet. Quiet, but unsettled. He wanted to know everything. Uncover every secret. He was searching, just like me. And he was killed for it.

A broken coven

The last time I was in Cyria Gardens, the Royal Conservatory had become a nest for the same coven of witches I’d worked with in Dunwall years ago. The curator, Breanna Ashworth, and a group of women were living there, performing odd rituals with bones and glass. Now the Abbey of the Everyman and their witch-hunters have taken it over and are gutting the place of all traces of black magic. If I’m lucky, the documents I need haven't been burned yet.

(When the Outsider is gone and the Overseers can't use him to prey on people's fears, I'll be there, laughing, as the Abbey falls to pieces.)
